The wooden surfaces of all NONAH furniture have been oiled to nourish the wood and protect it from variations in temperature and dampness, whilst leaving it free to breath.
It is based on linseed oil from flax seeds. It is a "dry" oil and forms a protective film while drying in the open air. This oil is biodegradable and conforms to the EN71-3 standard (toy safety).
To Maintain your NONAH furniture in good condition it is advisable to apply NONAH care oil to the wooden surfaces annually.
When applying the oil, moisten a soft dry cloth with a very small quantity of oil and rub gently on the selected wooden surface. Because the oil does not contain any drying agent it takes time. Avoid direct contact between recently treated furniture and clothes, carpets, paper etc for a few days after treartment.
- Treatment of stains / pen marks
Marks and stains should first be removed with a moistened cloth without any cleanser. If a stain can't be removed this way DO NOT use abrasive cleaners (such as washing up liquid etc). On wooden surfaces you can also treat the affected dried surface by rubbing gently with a very fine grade (about 200) sandpaper and then re-apply some oil as described above.
The NONAH paint is a high quality water-based laquer. But like all painted furniture it might show signs of wear after a bump or intensive use.
The paint and undercoat conform to EN71-3 stanard and are free from formaldehyde, toxic heavy metals, phthalates, CMR (1+2) compounds and volatile organic halogenous compounds.
NONAH furniture is manufactured exclusively with solid birch. It is sensitive to variations in temperature and dampness. When designing the furniture we do take this in to account so that the main movements of the wood are invisible. BUT you might notice a few tiny cracks appearing as seasons go by. Please don't worry the wood expands and shrinks continually. Your furniture evolves but retains it's integrity.
